My name is Jessica Erickson, and I am a second year teacher candidate at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC). My curiousity in life has led me to many of my passions including yoga, coaching, playing sports, working out, hiking, playing guitar, and travelling. As a lifelong learner, I embrace new opportunities and experiences with open arms. In doing so, I have lived a life full of adventure, and I hope to foster this same curiousity for all of my learners. My passions within education are mindfulness, inclusivity, and inquiry. I plan to create many future generations of learners who are able to lead their own learning, work within an inclusive community, think critically, and remain mindful in all aspects of life.

I am deeply rooted to my hometown of Prince George, British Columbia. I was born and raised in Prince George, and graduated from Prince George Secondary School (PGSS) in 2013. After graduation, I completed my Bachelor of Commerce at UNBC while playing on the UNBC Women’s Soccer Team. I was also able to achieve the Academic All Canadian Award during my time playing soccer at the CIS level. I also filled my time with various volunteer and work opportunities with youth throughout my undergraduate career. These opportunities included childcare with the YMCA, coaching with both the Whitecaps FC Northern Academy and PGSS, mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Tutoringwith the Native Friendship Centre, and working directly in School District 57. I quickly discovered my passion for working with youth, and applied for the Bachelor of Education program at UNBC. I have completed three practicum placements Sacred Heart- Grade 6/7; (St. Mary’s- Grade 2; and Edgewood Elementary- Grade 1/2 and I will be graduating from the UNBC Bachelor of Education Program this May.
