Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests.

For our first practicum, we observed in our practicum classrooms before teaching lessons. I took this opportunity to ask the teacher if it was okay to do a small activity with the students, which she kindly allowed. I handed out each student a card titled “Who am I?” which they got to fill out with information about themselves. I took the cards home to read, and by the next observation I knew all of the students’ names and some basic information about them. This proved to be one of the most important things I did for students during my practicum- students immediately felt valued as individuals and were excited that I wanted to get to learn about who they are outside of school.
